In celebration of the 2014-15 season, the CLS Gator Hockey Club held its annual awards banquet on Saturday, April 18, 2015. The following awards were presented:

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to one of the most important nights of the season for the Gator Hockey Family. Tonight we recognize our 7 seniors for their commitment to the success of the Crystal Lake South hockey program. As of now, the Class of 2015 has contributed to many successful nights and memories. Going into this evening's game, the senior class has combined to compete in 884 games, nearly 40,000 minutes of Gator Hockey. Without any further ado, let’s meet our seniors:
Matt is the varsity captain, but his leadership began several years ago, serving as an alternate captain during his sophomore and junior seasons. "Kinks" is in his 4th year with the Gators, all of which have been as a member of the varsity team. Matt enters Senior Night with 119 career goals, 130 career assists for 249 career points. He is on pace to finish as high as second all time. He currently resides in the 4th position. Matt was invited to America's Showcase Illinois Team tryouts junior and senior year. Matt was named to the All Conference team as both a sophomore and junior and returned to the All Star game for a 3rd season this year. Matt was also selected as the League's Most Valuable forward. Matt was named MVP of the All Star game his junior year and named to the Illinois All State Team during his senior year. He was also featured in the Blackhawks Captain Spotlight in April 2015. After graduation, Matt will attend West Virginia University. Matt is joined by his parents Virginia and Todd Kinker.

Jonathan Mutchler #22
Johnny is in his 4th season with the Gators and 3rd as a member of the varsity squad. He has played every position on the team during his 4 seasons, but has settled into a home as the cornerstone of the Gator Defensive unit. Johnny is a strong leader and mentor for a young CLS varsity team. Johnny serves as one of the team's alternate captains. Playing primarily defense, "JMutch" has contributed quite a bit offensively. As of Senior Night, in 116 varsity games, he scored 12 goals to go along with 31 assists for 43 points. This year, Jonathan was named to the All Star team and was invited to the America's Showcase Illinois Team tryouts. After graduation, Johnny will attend Northern Michigan University and study Business Administration. He hopes to continue his playing career as a member of the NMU Wildcats. Jonathan is joined by his parents Mary Jo and Mark.
Stephen is in his 3rd season with the Gators and has been part of the Gator varsity team his entire career at South. His offensive numbers have been outstanding. Going into Senior Night, Stephen has registered 46 goals, 44 assists for 90 career points in 106 career games. Stephen has tallied 10 power play goals to go along with 8 game winning goals. Stephen serves as one of the alternate captains this season. Stephen was named to the All Star team this year. After graduation, Stephen is considering Northern Michigan University, Robert Morris University or MCC where he plans on studying Culinary Arts. He would like to continue his playing career on the ice or as part of a collegiate roller hockey program. Stephen is joined by his father Matt.

Nolan Kremer #15
Nolan is a 4 year member of the Gator hockey program and is enjoying his first season with the South varsity squad. Nolan served as an alternate captain last season on the JV team and his steadiness under pressure and hard work made him a lock for the varsity team as a senior. "Krem" has contributed as both a defenseman and left wing through the course of this season. As of Senior Night, in his 4 years at South, Nolan has scored 15 goals with 38 assists for 53 total points. After graduation Nolan plans on attending Northern Michigan University and studying Business Administration. Nolan is joined by his parents Renee and Jeff Kremer.
Ryan is in his 3rd season with the Crystal Lake South hockey program. His versatility, dedication and hard work allowed him to make the jump to varsity in the middle of his junior year. Ryan’s thunderous hits, commitment to the defensive zone and timely offensive output have been many of the highlights of this young season. Ryan has scored 5 goals, to go along with 12 assists for 17 points at the varsity level. Ryan has played every position on the varsity team with the exception of goaltender and has done so exceptionally well. After graduation, Ryan will attend MCC and then plans to transfer to a 4-year university. Ryan is joined by his parents Kay and Jim Boettcher.

Hayden Hooghkirk #39
Hayden is a four year member of the Gator Hockey program. “Hooty” has served as an alternate captain on the JV team for the past two seasons. As of Senior Night, in four seasons, he has led the Gators to 22 wins including 2 shutouts. His biggest highlights included a shootout victory vs PREP in the semifinals of the Thanksgiving tournament in 2013 and most recently was named MVP of the Buckeye Classic Tournament in which the Gators stunned a Columbus AA team to win the tourney championship. Hayden could often be found assisting as trainer during Varsity games. After graduation, Hayden will attend Western Illinois University to study Fire Sciences and obtain his EMT certification. Hayden is joined by his parents Patty and Rich Hooghkirk.
Tony is in just his second year playing organized hockey and his second with the Gators. His leadership on and off the ice along with his “team first” attitude made him an obvious choice to lead the Junior Varsity as team captain this season. In Tony’s 2 years he has been a strong two way player, contributing offensively when needed, scoring 7 goals to go along with 12 assists for 19 points. Prior to playing hockey, Tony was a two year member of the Gator baseball team. After graduation, Tony would like to continue his playing career and is looking at several schools in the area that would allow him to continue to develop. Tony is joined by his parents Dawn and Jeff Marsalla.
